BPJS insurance

BPJS for your company and team — registered, updated and sorted.

Registering your company, resident directors and employees — foreign and local — in Indonesia's national health and employment insurance is a legal duty, not an extra. We register everyone, keep data up to date and help with claims.

In short: Companies in Indonesia must register their employees — including foreign staff who work in Indonesia for at least six months — in BPJS Kesehatan (national health insurance) and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (employment insurance covering work accidents, death, old-age savings and, for eligible members, pension). Contributions are shared between employer and employee. Sam Consulting registers the company and its people, manages monthly changes and helps with claims.

Why it matters

Why BPJS shouldn't wait

BPJS status is linked to other government services, and gaps are hard to explain to staff when they need care.

Administrative sanctions

Employers who don't register their staff can face sanctions, including restrictions on certain public services.

Unprotected staff

Without active membership, employees can't use health coverage or claim work-accident benefits when it matters most.

Messy back-payments

Late registration or outdated salary data leads to arrears and corrections that take time to fix.

FAQ

BPJS questions

Can't find your question? Ask us — we reply fast.

Is BPJS mandatory for foreign employees?

Yes. Foreigners who work in Indonesia for at least six months must be registered in BPJS. We confirm which programmes apply to each employee.

How much does BPJS cost the company?

For health insurance the employer pays 4% of salary (capped), and for employment insurance the employer pays 3.7% (JHT), 2% (JP, if applicable), 0.24–1.74% (JKK) and 0.3% (JKM). Employees pay 1% (health), 2% (JHT) and 1% (JP).

Do company directors need to be registered?

Resident directors who receive a salary from the company are generally registered like other employees. We review your setup.

Can my family be covered?

Yes. Family members of KITAS or KITAP holders can be registered in BPJS Kesehatan.

What if our memberships were never activated?

We review the current status, fix data and arrears, and reactivate memberships with BPJS.

Can BPJS be managed together with payroll tax?

Yes. Our payroll compliance plan keeps BPJS and PPh 21 aligned every month, so salaries and contributions always match.
